Course Description

The General Maintenance Procedures Course introduces participants to a
variety of topics that are essential knowledge for aviation mechanics, and integral components
of safe and effective aircraft maintenance operations. Topics explored in the course include the
practice of rendering aircraft systems safe and the use of a warning tag system, how to read
and interpret aircraft blueprints, and the safe handling and application of sealant compounds.
The course also presents human factors issues in the aviation maintenance with an emphasis on
promoting a culture of safety, understanding how and why accidents occur, and the prevention
and mitigation of maintenance errors. Additionally, participants will be introduced to several
operations management methodologies that are used to measure performance, overcome
constraints, and drive continual process improvement efforts in the maintenance organization.
