Course Description

This course is an introduction to the basic principles of electricity and its use in industry. It begins with an explanation of the theories and terms used in electrical work. The student also learns about hazards involved with electricity, including: shock, electrocution, short circuits, and arc flash. The student is introduced to the ways to protect themselves from electrical hazards through the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment, the correct tools and how to read labels on equipment. Students learn about the standards for electrical safety found in the NFPA 70E.
